Valdemar will investigate the connection between hidradenitis suppurativa and increased risk of cardiovascular disease
Valdemar Wendelboe Nielsen aims to explore the connection between hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) subtypes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) at UCSF together with his mentors Simon Francis Thomsen and Haley B. Naik.
Valdemar Wendelboe Nielsen aims to explore the connection between hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) subtypes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) at UCSF together with his mentors Simon Francis Thomsen and Haley B. Naik. HS is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease with a significant burden of comorbidities. The study will investigate how different HS subtypes influence the prevalence of CVD in Danish and U.S. populations, using recently developed disease classification system to analyze cardiometabolic profiles and disease characteristics. The findings aim to enhance our understanding of HS as a systemic disease and its cardiovascular implications, potentially leading to more targeted treatments and improved patient outcomes.
