Active public voice

We work proactively with our three main agendas

In the Lundbeck Foundation, we have three particular focus areas in our engagement with society at large. The three areas are brain health in Denmark, conditions for research and the commercial foundation model. These three areas have been selected because they are relevant to our activities.

Brain health

Over the course of their life, one in five Danes will need treatment for a brain disorder.

There is a need for a greater focus on brain health in Denmark. The Lundbeck Foundation funds biomedical sciences research – and we have a special fondness for the brain. The aim is to gain more knowledge of the brain and its diseases, and how we can best take care of the sound and healthy brain. We also aim to increase focus in the Danish population on how to improve brain health and what living with a brain disorder involves.

Conditions for research

Denmark should be a leading brain research nation, capable of accomplishing research excellence.

Work in lab

This entails that Danish research has favourable operating conditions, a focus on talents and talent nature, diversity and good opportunities for research partnering. We want to develop and strengthen Denmark’s position as research and business hub in the international healthcare community. We work to improve the conditions for research and innovation in Denmark through collaboration between business and science, active talent management, access to funding etc.

CVI Engaged ownership

The foundation model as an ownership model in the Danish business sector

The foundation model is a sustainable and attractive ownership model for Danish society.

The foundation model is a sustainable and attractive ownership model for Danish society because foundation ownership keeps companies on Danish soil and thereby contributes jobs, knowledge, tax payments, etc. At the same time, the ownership model contributes to society because we distribute our surplus as non-profit funding within Danish-based public-sector research.

The Lundbeck Foundation works for the societal value of foundation ownership to be even more prominent, and for more businesses to see the value of being wholly or partially foundation-owned.

Foundation partners

We work with our agendas in different ways, and we welcome collaboration with, for instance, decision-makers, ministries, the academic research environment, other foundations, and patient organisations. Being open about what we want to achieve through such partnerships is a landmark by which we steer our working relationships. In our experience, this the best way to achieve our goal.
