Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder typically diagnosed in early adulthood. Our scientific understanding of how schizophrenia develops is limited, however leading theories suggest that auditory hallucinations, a core symptom of schizophrenia, arise due to miscommunications in the brain's auditory regions. Using new neuroimaging methods, the project aims to describe the development of the brain's auditory circuits and how they become dysfunctional in patients with schizophrenia.
