Memory retention depends on highly specific protein transport and precise timing, which has made research challenging with our currently available techniques. This project aims to establish a rapid and reversible loss-of-function method to investigate the role of specific proteins during memory retention in the hippocampus. When this loss-of-function method has been optimized and established, it may be applied universally and have the potential to help study proteins in many other biological pathways and tissues.
