Modulation of NETO Associated Kainate Glutamate Receptor Neurotransmission
Professor
University of Copenhagen
Glutamate is the most abundant signaling molecule in the brain. The aim of the project is to develop molecules that can modulate glutamate signalling mediated by the so-called kainate receptors, but only in specific areas of the brain where the regulatory protein NETO is present. Such molecules can give us a better understanding of communication in the brain, but also lead to better treatment of neurologic disorders where glutamate is involved, i.e. epilepsy, Alzheimer's and more.
