Mapping changes of coupled pre- and postsynaptic synapses in neurodegenerative diseases
Postdoc
Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital
Michel Rasmussen, postdoc, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 1,999,732.
This project proposes a model of the complex spatio-temporal changes in coupled synapses central to the neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and Multiple system atrophy (MSA). The study may support the need for the development of disease-modifying treatments targeting synapses to rescue or prevent synaptic dysfunction and related cognitive impairments.
