The Brain Prize Lectures 2026

The Brain Prize
19 May 2026

The recipients of The Brain Prize 2026 will present a research lecture on their pioneering contributions to neuroscience.

Note that this event will be only in English.

The Lundbeck Foundation invites you to hear the 2026 Brain Prize winners deliver their Brain Prize lectures.

Professors Patrik Ernfors and David Ginty are awarded The Brain Prize 2026 for pioneering work on the cellular architecture of somatosensation, revealing how the nervous system detects and processes touch and pain.

For decades, the field of somatosensation lacked a clear understanding of how many distinct sensory neuron types exist, how their peripheral endings are built, and how their signals are processed and routed to the central nervous system. Patrik Ernfors and David Ginty transformed our knowledge by revealing the cellular building blocks of somatosensation and the neural principles by which they are organized. Together, their research has reshaped fundamental concepts of somatosensation and laid the groundwork for a new generation of targeted approaches to treating pain and disorders of touch based on specific cell types and neural circuits.

We look forward to welcoming you.
