FESTIVAL 2025 – THE BRAIN

The brain is amazing. This lump in the skull weighs around 1,300 grams and is mostly made up of water and fat, filled with electrical signals and chemical connections. Miraculously, it is the seat of consciousness, thoughts, emotions, and language—and it governs learning, memory, personality, and behavior. The brain is the body’s supreme command center, making it possible for us to breathe, move, come up with new ideas, create art, music, and literature, and even predict the future.

It is the brain that makes us human. But how does it actually work? Why does it sometimes go wrong? And what does it take to keep the brain in top shape throughout life? What role do our genes, lifestyle, social conditions, society, and environment play? What happens when we listen to music, go for a run, talk to each other, fall in love, or experience anxiety? And what opportunities and challenges do new technologies and treatment methods bring to our brains today and in the future?

Join us as Hearts & Minds Festival once again explores the wonders of the brain and highlights the latest knowledge. Look forward to a weekend filled with talks, conversations, workshops, concerts, and physical activity with leading experts.

The events are short, so you can attend multiple sessions in one day. Many are free, but registration is required.

The festival is sponsored by the Lundbeck Foundation.
