Does selective visual attention sample rhythmically?
Our subjective experience of the world is continuous. However, recent research has proposed that attention samples the input from our senses in roughly 7-8 discrete ‘snapshots’ per second. This theory is supported by many studies, but there are theoretical and methodological reasons to be skeptical of it. The current project aims to decisively resolve this dispute using a series of EEG and behavioral experiments in healthy adult human participants.
