Decoding auditory sensory matched filtering for fast information processing
Associate professor
University of Southern Denmark
All sensory systems filter away most inputs already at reception so the brain only has to process essential information. Echolocating bats are auditory specialists making them ideal models for such filtering in the auditory system, but we do not know the details of their filtering mechanisms or how they utilise them to enhance sensory acquisition. Here I will uncover these mechanisms and unravel how auditory information is prioritised to optimise perception.
