Cracking the neural code of transforming thoughts into actions
Assistant Professor
University of Copenhagen
Our movements are often guided by specific goals or objectives. Yet, we still don鈥檛 fully understand how the brain translates these goals into concrete motor actions. By recording the activity of large groups of neurons in freely moving mice, we aim to identify how different brain areas work together when setting, planning, and carrying out goal-directed locomotion. Through this approach, we aim to uncover how different interconnected brain regions turn information from abstract thoughts into movements, potentially leading to novel concepts to treat motor disorders and a new generation of bioinspired neuroprosthetics.
