Could B Cell Depletion Therapy Trigger Parkinson’s-Like Protein Aggregation?
Senior researcher
Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital
We suspect that long-term B cell depletion might unintentionally accelerate the buildup of harmful protein aggregates in the brain, increasing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple System Atrophy. Our research uses animal models to explore how B cell depletion affects the brain’s ability to clear these toxic aggregates. By understanding these effects, we hope to uncover potential long-term risks associated with this type of therapy and contribute to safer treatment strategies.
