There is a pressing need for new and optimized treatments in depression. This randomized clinical trial will test a novel pro-cognitive drug targeting the serotonin 4 receptor as an augmentation to standard antidepressant treatment in women with depression who comprise 2/3 of the patient population. This work holds grand promise to improve mental health in women, and in next steps will inform broader translation to promote cognitive brain health.
