Autoimmune Encephalitis in Denmark: From Neuron to Patient
Resident
Odense University Hospital
Mette Scheller Nissen, registrar, Neurology, Odense University Hospital, has been awarded an Early-career clinician scientist research grant worth DKK 2.433.187
Her research investigates critical knowledge gaps in Autoimmune Encephalitis, a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the brain.
Based on recent work from The Danish Reference Center for Autoimmune Encephalitis and Related Disorders establishing a nationwide database and biobank, the project will investigate disease mechanisms, evaluate how patients and caregivers fare in Denmark and raise awareness of the disease.
