Dissecting the role of astrocytes in behavioral responses to visual threat
Rune Nguyen Rasmussen, postdoc, Centre for Translational Neuromedicine, University of Copenhagen, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 2,000,000.
His project seeks to identify the role of astrocytes in fear response. Astrocytes are star-shaped supporting cells which help regulate communication between neurons in the brain. In the long term, Rasmussen hopes that this will lead to development of novel therapies for fear-related psychological disorders.
