FGF21 – A liver secreted regulator of abuse disorders
Postdoc
University of Copenhagen
Peter Aldiss, postdoc, NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 1,999,173.
His project is devoted to studying the FGF21 protein released from the liver. Among other things, this protein signals to the brain that it needs to control how much sugar and alcohol we consume. Mutations in this protein are linked to smoking and alcohol addiction. FGF21 could therefore also be of interest when designing drugs to treat addiction.
