Sikora Group, Lundbeck Foundation GeoGenetics Centre – Globe Institute
The centre works at the intersection of ancient genomics, population genetics and paleoepidemiology and investigates the evolutionary history of humans and our associated pathogens.

The Sikora Group's ‘Apollo Ancient Genomics Initiative for the Evolutionary Understanding of Human Diseases’ aims to uncover the evolutionary origins of human disease by integrating three unique ancient genome panels to shed light on the major factors influencing:
- Disease risk - ancient human genomes that can reveal changes in human genetic variation
- Ancient microbial genomes - to provide information on past pathogen exposure and microbial commensals
- Ancient environmental DNA - for reconstructing past environmental conditions
The Sikora group is part of Lundbeck Foundation Centre for GeoGenetics located at the GLOBE Institute at the University of Copenhagen. The centre was established in 2018 with the ambition to characterize the evolutionary paths and processes, which has led to the genetic architecture of brain disorders, other human traits and common diseases in contemporary humans, as well as diseases caused by infectious pathogens.
