UPGRADE: Unveiling the secrets of ProGRAnulin in neuroDEgenerative diseases
Associate Professor
Aarhus University
"Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a leading cause of early-onset dementia, with no current cure. A major genetic cause is low levels of a protective protein called progranulin. This project will determine how progranulin works in brain cells by identifying the receptors it interacts with. Using patient-derived neurons and a mouse model for FTD, we will uncover new treatment targets to help develop therapies for FTD and related brain diseases."
