Parkinson’s Disease is characterized by accumulation of toxic protein aggregates called amyloid fibrils. In this project, I will investigate how amyloid fibrils form in the brain. I will generate lab-produced disease-relevant amyloid fibrils and model systems, for the first time, to facilitate the development of therapeutics. Thereby, I will also expand our understanding of the molecular sequence of events causing amyloid fibril aggregation and subsequent onset of disease.
