Does Locus Coeruleus dysfunction impact brain waste removal?
Professor
Aarhus University
The connection between sleep and brain health has long been known, but only recently has an understanding of the possible mechanisms behind the connection been gained. The brain structure Locus Coeruleus (LC) may play a central role as it controls our sleep phases, influences the blood vessels in the brain, and possibly the flushing of waste products. This project aims to clarify the role of LC in brain health, understand the consequences of LC dysfunction, and how to detect this condition.
