The Lundbeck Foundation Investigator Network

Open Calls

An initiative designed to strengthen Danish neuroscience by connecting people and disciplines.

What is LFIN?

The Lundbeck Foundation Investigator Network (LFIN) consists of approximately 50 early to mid-career scientists (from postdocs to junior faculty) working in Denmark and in any field of neuroscience (from basic to clinical). The network also includes investigators working in other disciplines who are keen to apply their expertise to a neuroscience research question. More information about LFIN can be found here:

LFIN - The Lundbeck Foundation Investigator Network | 鶹

What is the purpose LFIN?

The network has two main goals:

  • Develop new areas of multidisciplinary neuroscience research in Denmark
  • Help young investigators realise their scientific potential

To realise these goals, LFIN engages in initiatives that foster the development of working relationships among network members that span scientific institutions and disciplines in Denmark. Members of LFIN also receive training in topics that are relevant for their career and personal development.

LFIN Lundbeck Foundation Investigator Network

What are the incentives to join LFIN?

  • LFIN fosters the establishment of collaborations and relationships enabling network members to tackle new neuroscience research questions requiring a multidisciplinary approach.
  • LFIN members are eligible to apply for dedicated seed funding to support collaborative and interdisciplinary projects within the network.
  • Members receive training related to their scientific career. The nature of the training will be chosen by LFIN members. Examples of training could include workshops on grant writing, giving talks, lab leadership and management, commercialisation of ideas, non-academic career paths, public engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • LFIN members organise scientific meetings enabling the network members to engage with the broader national and international neuroscience community.

Who can join the network

You have finished your PhD and you are a postdoc, or you have just started your own research group. You are doing research in Denmark at a public institution or a hospital.

Importantly- you have a passion for science, for sociability, and you have a willingness to take the initiative in driving LFINs success- through active participation.

LFIN members arrange and participate in two two-day network meetings per year. One soft skills and career training meeting, and one scientific meeting with a neuroscience focus. LFIN members also arrange various scientific outreach events for the public.

We believe that diversity is key to LFIN’s success. We therefore encourage applications from those working in diverse disciplines, academic institutions in Denmark, and diverse personal backgrounds.

Composition and tenure

The network consists of approximately 50 members at any time. Network membership lasts for four years, and approx. 20-25 new members will be recruited every two years.

How much will it cost to be a member of LFIN?

LFIN members cover costs of travel to and from the network meetings (all held in DK). All other costs associated with network activities are covered by the Lundbeck Foundation.

LFIN’s ethos

Network members should actively participate in setting the network’s agenda, direction and activities. LFIN is run for and by the network members themselves.
