A Rigid–Flexible Robot for Minimally Invasive Stereoelectroencephalography Electrode Implantation

Drug-resistant epilepsy often requires seizure-source localization using Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), a surgical procedure that currently involves multiple electrodes inserted along straight trajectories and requiring multiple skull openings, increasing patient trauma. This project proposes a robotic system, NeuroSNAKE, combining a robotic arm with a snake-like robot to enable minimally invasive, curved-path electrode placement through fewer cranial openings, guided by real-time intraoperative feedback for safe and accurate navigation.
